About Us

Wenlin Studio, founded by Gul in London and now also based in Lisbon, is a platform for heritage-led textile design practice. At the studio we work with Phulkari embroidery, Ajrak printing (an ancient natural dyeing method), and Kantha (Gindi) embroidery, reimagined in a contemporary context. Each collection is developed in collaboration with artisans, reflecting our philosophy of preserving and reinterpreting traditional textile practices while ensuring a just-transition for those who carry them forward. We offer embroidery kits, hand-embroidered pouches and other goods made using handwoven cotton khadi from Kamalia, Pakistan. We also repurpose leftover fabrics into plant-dyed patchwork kits and one-of-a-kind garments. All embroidery is either done in our studio or made in small batches by artisans in Punjab and Sindh, Pakistan, then finished and packaged at our Lisbon studio. We ship globally through our warehouse in Lisbon, Portugal.

Dye Garden in Jardim dos Franceses

On May 21, 2026, I (Gul), in collaboration with the Barreiro Council & Startup Barreiro, planted different plants in Jardim dos Franceses to study the growth cycle of classic dye plants like Marigold, Indigo & Madder.
