Dyeing & Printing with Natural Dyes Two-Day Workshop at Startup Barreiro
This class is designed to guide participants through the complete printing process with natural dyes and classic recipes. From preparing fabric for printing and resist pastes, curing, and finishing, the class explores the contemporary, efficient approaches for making prints sustainably. Participants will explore the distinctive color contrasts produced by ferrous-tannin reactions and develop rich tones using both immersion and indigo dyeing techniques.

Workshop Contents
- Preparation of fabric swatches using traditional processes
- Step-by-step instructions on treatments and dye bath preparation
- History and use of natural dyes such as Madder, Cutch, and Indigo
- Practice from blank cloth to finished swatch, covering the entire process
Workshop Timeline
Day 1: Introduction & Preparations
- Overview of materials
- Preparation of pastes and their relationship with fibers
- Application of resists using brushes and wooden blocks
- Introduction to the curing process
- Soaking of dye-stuff for Day 2
- Preparing the indigo vat for Day 2
Day 2: Natural Dye Baths & Indigo Vat
- Preparation of two dye baths: Madder and Cutch, and Indigo Vat
- Swatch dyeing and observing the results of the samples
- Finishing and final discussions

Withdrawals/refunds: The full fee will be refunded if, for any reason, the teacher is unable to conduct the class. If you are unable to attend the workshop, you may collect your kit from the studio at a later date by arranging a pick-up time in advance.

Returns & Exchanges: Our products are handmade, and each piece carries artisanal qualities. Slight variations in embroidery and finish are natural and reflect the unique stamp of each artisan. If you are not fully satisfied with your purchase, we do accept returns. We request you to send us an email at info@wenlinstudio.com explaining the reason for your return within 7 days after you receive your package. Please remember to also provide us with your name, your address and your order number. After your request has been approved, we will send you an email authorizing you to send us back the products. The email will also include the appropriate instructions and destination address. The products must be received unused and in their original packaging.
Please note that you will be responsible for the shipping cost as well as the duties and taxes on your return.
