Unfold your personal story through traditional Punjabi folk embroidery in Gascony, France. Join textile designer, Gul E Raana (founder of Wenlin Studio) at Amassa for Storytelling Through Stitch: The Art of Sainchi Phulkari. Sainchi Phulkari is a freehand, narrative embroidery style from the Indus region (Punjab, Pakistan), traditionally used by women to document daily life, folklore, and memories. Gul will guide participants through translating personal experiences into stitched symbols on a linen/cotton sampler to take home.

Outside the studio, the retreat includes walks around the property, an excursion to the local Woad Museum, and access to Amassa's swimming pools and wood-burning sauna.

What Is Included

- Instruction: Guided studio sessions covering context, sketching, symbol design, and stitching.

- Materials: Full kit with sketchbooks, drawing tools, frames, needles, threads, and fabric.

- Accommodation: Ensuite rooms (single and double options available).

- Meals: Three meals daily prepared by an onsite chef (accommodating all dietary requirements), plus unlimited coffee, tea, and fruit.

- Activities: Visit to the Woad Museum and access to all estate amenities.

Sample day Schedule:

- 08:30 – 09:30: Breakfast

- 09:30 – 12:00: Morning session (History, sketching, symbol development)

- 12:15 – 13:15: Lunch

- 13:30 – 16:30: Afternoon session (Hands-on stitching)

- 16:30 onwards: Free time (Open studio, sauna, pools, or relaxation)

- 18:30: Dinner
